1980's  34' Wellcraft Scarab with complete enclosure

The owner of the boat above wanted protection from the sun in the summer and protection from the cold in the late fall and early spring.  He also wanted it to be able to fold completely out of the way and be easy to remove from the boat.  Starting with the frame, I designed it to fold against the radar arch with quick release pin at the mounts.  The top was made with zipper pockets so it can be removed from the frame.  Each section individually zippers in place and snapped to the existing snaps in the boat.  Using existing snaps in a boat is always a high priority.  The front curtain has an angle that matches the rake of the windshield for style and air flow.  The side curtains have two windows separated by fabric which hides the fiberglass radar arch.  This was done for style as well as to prevent scratching of the clear vinyl.  As a special touch, the aft cover snaps to piggy-back snaps installed in the top.  I wanted to add the minimum number of snaps in the boat.

On a side note, a couple of years later, another Scarab owner saw this boat in the bay and asked the owner who made the canvas for it.  He wanted the same package in black as shown below.
